The Seychelles, located northeast of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, are beautiful islands, little visited, and surrounded by clear blue waters and fantastic dive sites. Since the 9th century, when Arab seafarers first sailed the uncharted waters off the east coast of Africa, the Seychelles has been visited by a succession of visitors such as Phoenician traders, Polynesian adventurers, a Chinese flotilla, and pirates.
