Skookumchuck

  • type : ketch
  • length : 53 ft.
  • capacity : 5 passengers
  • specials : value, classic sailing vessel, custom charters

Skookumchuck is a 53' ketch that accommodates 5 guests in 3 cabins.

Although Skookumchuck was set up as a working sailboat with an aft cargo/fish hold and trolling cockpit, it has never been put to use in that service. Amidships, inside the wheelhouse and galley the teak floors and interior cabinets contribute to a homey, warm yacht-like coziness. The full-size oil-fired cooking range in the galley insures the boat will remain warm and cozy should we run into inclement weather along the wild Alaskan coast. She is also available for charter in the Pacific Northwest.

Southeast Alaska is justifiably known for its dramatic beauty and abundance of sealife. With it’s 3,000 miles of convoluted coastline, it offers one of the most beautiful sailing areas in the world, with open yet protected waters, conifer-covered islands, and majestic snow-clad glaciers. Bald eagles can be observed perched on trees, near salmon spawning streams, and around their many nesting areas. Sightings of orca, humpback whales, sea lions, seals, sea otters, and porpoise are also common.
